Well, most ladies love jewelry and Rory (our Westie) was no exception. She could rock a collar like it no other. After switching out her collars from time to time, we finally settled on a collar from our visit to Seattle and the University of Washington.
Whenever I would give her a bath, I would take her collar off and place it on the bathroom counter. She would stand up on her hind legs to make sure she knew where I had put it.
After wrestling with her and trying to not soak the entire bathroom, I would lift her out of the tub and towel dry her off. She would start streaking around the house shaking water everywhere and rubbing her little head on the carpet to get the water out of her ears. I am not sure if she did this because it felt good or she wanted to get back at me for giving her a bath.
But as soon as she calmed down she would start whining and pleading with me to put her collar back on. And if I didn’t do this immediately, she would drive me crazy. Once the collar was safely back around her neck she would calm down.
Unfortunately, after our little man grew up watching this little charade, he thought it was hilarious to take off her collar and run away from her. She would chase him and bark which he thought was too funny. He would giggle and I think she secretly loved it too.
So now I am left with her little bit of jewelry and lovely memories. I have saved her collar and want to repurpose it somehow so I can have it with me always. Have you ever repurposed something like a collar? If so, what did you do with it?
