So on our last Disney trip I swear Flik and Princess Atta were playing around with our My Disney Experience app. I know what you are thinking… our resident Disney addict is about to say something negative about her happy place. Never!! I just don’t want you to make the same mistakes I made on our last trip. It was still magical but it was like being on a roller coaster. I actually apologized to a cast member because I lost my cool and yelled at her! And when your kid tells Tinkerbell that we are there because she is going to make your mom happy, it is time to take a deep breath and inhale the magic
Now if you have been to Disney World in the last few months you know about My Disney Experience (MDE) app and website. I think it is a brilliant program but like all new programs there are bound to be bugs (aka Flik and Princess Atta). If you purchase tickets then you can view those tickets on your MDE account. I have purchased tickets for multiple family members and I am able to view all of those. But once you use them then they disappear. So imagine my delight when a one day Magic Kingdom park ticket showed up for my 2 year old son. But I was thrilled when one showed up for my 14 year old cousin. I thought Tinkerbell had sprinkled some of her pixie dust on me and I was going to be able to take my cousin with us on an impromptu visit this summer.
We were driving down on Friday evening and coming back home on Sunday. So we could only do one park on Saturday and I was overjoyed to be able to take my cousin to help me with my almost three year old son. She is about as big of a Disney fan as I am so I love having her travel with us. This trip she had saved some money so we did the 1900 Park Fare character breakfast at the Grand Floridian. This was a first for all of us and we had a wonderful time so our morning started on a good note.
We got back in the car and drove to the Magic Kingdom parking lot. I decided on this trip not to bring the stroller so we could rent one once we got into the park. Normally this isn’t a problem but this time Bubba was in a mood so while I was at Customer Relations my cousin had her hands full.
I quickly explained to the Cast Member that there were two Magic Kingdom tickets on my MDE account. She explained that the ticket for my cousin was used last summer. I then explained that there was nothing on my account to show that it was used and how did she explain the ticket for Bubba. We have never bought him tickets because children are free under the age of three. So apparently this is where Flik and Princess Atta come in… they thought it would be fun to tweak with our account and show an expired ticket on my account almost a year later. So if see tickets on your account that you haven’t purchased recently, call WDW and check and see what they are all about before you drive down to Florida. This trip cost me a one day park pass that I had not budgeted for and we will probably have to eliminate one of our character meals from our next trip.
I did ask the cast member to make a note for their IT department because I only drove 4 hours thinking I had a complimentary ticket. Imagine a family who didn’t have the extra money after budgeting for this amazing trip.
Another quick tip, if you have to purchase a ticket last minute immediately go to Guest Relations and buy a Magic Band. Link that sucker to your MDE account immediately. My poor cousin lost her card not an hour after we got into the park and we spent another half hour looking for it. Our guess is that it is somewhere on the Tomorrowland Speedway.
All in all we had a blast and stayed until Wishes was over. Just in time for a little more magic, my cousin got to ride the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train!! She said she would do it by herself and Bubba was sound asleep in the rented WDW stroller. When she came through those exit doors, you could tell it truly was a great day at the Magic Kingdom!
